Because Sony's lens selection doesn't include a tilt-shift like its competitors, I was forced to buy this Ukrainian-made model. Save your money. Hold out for Sony to come through, which they will eventually. Samyang (aka Rokinon) also has one coming out, and it has to be better than this. The build quality is poor on the Arax. The tilt and shift knobs are flimsy, and difficult to turn when loaded by the gravity of the lens. Further, the optics are weak, and the tilt/shift effect, while certainly there, is not as pronounced as I would have liked. When I opened the lens, new, the rear element was dirty and it looked as though there was some wear on the metal parts inside. There were also little pieces of debris floating around in there. You've got to assume that there was little to no quality control. The aperture dial is similarly flimsy and gives the impression that it's going to break. Rotating the lens can be difficult, and there is not enough clearance for it to fully rotate in certain positions on my Sony a77 camera. The lens clicks upon rotation at 90-degree intervals, but those intervals do not line up with the vertical/horizontal planes. So that's a severe goof in construction too. If this lens were priced at $250, I could treat it as the cheap toy that it is, and accept the shortcomings. But at $700 after tax and shipping, you'd expect at least a little quality. I'm returning it.
