Used this teleconverter with a 50 to 250 zoom lens to photograph my grandaughters graduation. Did a good job, but was a little soft, however was able to correct with photo sofeware. Would recommend to a friend. Have used other Vivitar products in the past and have been satisfied with their quality.

I got it for my Sony SLT-A65 (APS-C sensor, 1.5 cropping factor), Sony SAL18250 zoom lens (27/375mm equiv.), Minolta 50mm f/1.7 (75mm equiv.) and Marumi Achromat 330/200 close-up lenses.Pros: Well, it works very good, it doubled my lenses reach (focal distance), the resulting image quality is very good too, with no appreciable distortion nor smearing, it's sharp enough, which in any way, I always correct and enhance in post-processing (teleconverter used or not) so it filled up all my expectations. Now, I additionally have a 36/500mm zoom lens (54/750mm equiv.), a Minolta 100mm lens (150mm equiv.) f2.8 and if attaching Marumi close-up lenses I can do great Macros too.Cons: Auto Focus works quite well with Minolta 50mm f/1.7, but as other review said, it doesn't work as well with Sony SAL18250 (they warn about it) so Manual Focusing is needed (not a big trouble with A65 because of its focus peaking feature). A very little chromatic aberration on very contrasted borders much probably because of primary lenses flaw. You lose one or two f/stops and will have narrower DOF also, OK, but as everything in life, by one side you sacrifice a little for getting double range by the other, just take advantage of the new lens characteristics. One than another pixel peeper or very exigent people wouldn't be satisfied with it, right!, it is just a 2X teleconverter... don't expect pears from oranges: it won't convert your standard lenses into top quality lenses meanwhile doubling their performance!, by the contrary, as it doubles the image size it will highlight the primary lens own flaws. Five stars for what it is!.And to finish, the cleaning set is very complete, cleaning fluid, an excellent brush, a blower, Q tips, micro fiber clothe and LensPens are very good, better than others I've used.

The teleconverter doesn't work with the auto-focus features of my telephoto zoom lens past a certain focal length. It also doesn't work with a dedicated super-telephoto lens that I purchased. The optical quality of the images isn't as sharp as it should be.
