The Samyang 500mm f/6.3 Manual Focus Mirror Lens is a high-quality, computer designed product that incorporates the merits of both reflex optics and refraction optics. This combination provides the user with an extremely sharp picture with minimum color abberation. This lens is one of the most affordable precision optics available, which allows anyone on any budget to enjoy shooting crisp, clear telephoto pictures. Versatile enough for use with wildlife, sports, nature and surveillance photography.
This strong, lightweight all-metal adapter is used to attach T-mount lenses and other optics to Canon EF (EOS) mount cameras.
This 2x teleconverter attaches to any T-mount (screw mount) lens, and effectively doubles the focal length of that lens, allowing the photographer to get much closer to the action. This simple, yet high-grade adapter provides excellent optical quality at an affordable price.

By cdlphoto
I will admit I've wasted way too much time having fun with this lens. It's a blast to play with- and that's actually why I got it. However there's just no way I could ever use this lens professionally. If you're a non-pro that wants to have fun with your camera, by all means this is the lens for you.A few notes:This lens is manual focus, and extremely touchy on the focus. Very very difficult to focus. It is reasonably sharp when focused properly, but it's almost impossible to get it focused. LiveView is absolutely required.Very light weight and small for a 500/1000mm lens. Very cheap for a 500/1000mm lens.Bokeh is horrible. I almost wanted to like it, because it's unique. But I just can't. It's horrible. There's just no way it can look good, or even pulled off as "artistic."There are contrast issues. This just has to do with the way a mirror lens has to be constructed, it lets light go where light shouldn't go. There's no way around it, so it's not exactly the lens's fault other than it is a mirror lens. This can be corrected somewhat in post processing. This lens is very long focal length. Don't expect to hand-hold very many shots unless you have ISO cranked -way- up.I have used the included 2X converter, plus -two- full macro extension tubes (about $10 each), and was still able to focus at infinity! This was amazingly fun! My guess is that the focal length was around 3000-4000. I took a photo of a truck two full blocks away and could still read the little "Ford" logo on the grill. Image looked like crap though...Is this lens worth the price? It really depends on you and how you'd use it. No, it won't pay for itself even at this price. It's not a pro lens, nor was I expecting it to be. Yes, I probably got my money's worth out of it because it's simply fun.

By Alana Right
Bottom line, for the money this lens is good if not a great lens. Not everyone is willing to shed 2 big ones for 500mm of a brand name lens and this lens fits the bill of my wallet and an amateur with no qualms about somewhat blurry photos (but not all the time). I bought it primarily to shoot birds and animals in a lake front, and to point it at the moon once in a while. So far, it has not disappointed me on either case. Of course, if you compare the lens output to the output of the brand names, even the standard kit (for example) of the Canon T2i, you will find it at fault in sharpness and color. If you are somewhat forgiving because you price magnification more, do not hesitate to buy it.I will upload some samples later. The trick here is, first: to be able to manually focus well and quickly and THAT can be improved with practice. The first day it arrived I ruined almost all of my photos; too much anxiety with my new toy made my hand shaky. The second thing to remember always is to have one finger positioned at the dial that will change the exposure time, since "f" is fixed at 6.3 all you can change is the shutter speed on the fly. Assuming you have your ISO set, that is the main trick. Light changes in seconds on the same setting, so I have had to change exposure accordingly while shooting the same subject on the open. I set my camera at Tv (shutter speed preferred) and estimate my exposure for the current light. You also have to practice and be good at this "estimating busines" , or your start will be flaky and you will have to stop to change the ISO AND shutter speed.BIRDING: No luck so far with moving birds, they are too fast to be able to focus well manually. So far, I mean, and I have had the lens for 2 days only. Second day, I have been able to take better bird photos and it is a delight to be able not to scare them away.Moon pictures: Not that bad, not that bad. I aimed the lens to the moon last night (through a window) and I will upload the photo here. I am hoping to take pictures of some star clusters, but I don't think that the light gathering of this lens is enough. I would also need a good tracking tripod or mount for that so I can hold the lens open for a longer time and I don't get star trails.I will stress this lens to the limit!I bought the lens without any of the gimmicks they bundle it with for economy purposes (less expensive). Also, no extension, since that would make effective f stop lower by two stops making it impractical. I already had a T ring adapter which you need to attach it to a DSLR. And off we go! If you buy it, enjoy an extremely good "toy" lens.
