It's total angle of view is an amazing 114 degrees. This is as wide as it gets unless you go to a fisheye.This great lens has newly designed optics. It contains two aspherical elements and two UD glass elements. What this means is that you get great contrast, amazing sharpness all the way to the outer edges, and fewer chromatic aberrations which sometimes happen with high resolution digital SLRs.This is a lens for pros. It is the highest quality available. To mention the technical aspects, this has a rear focusing system, fast CPU, and ring-type USM with improved electronics. This means it's faster, with more accurate auto focus.You can use this lens for architurectural shots, or any place you want an ultra wide angel. I like to shoot landscapes with this, as it gives some very impressive views of an entire terrain.
