The Sweet 35 Optic is a 35mm, selective focus optic with a 12-blade internal aperture that provides unprecedented creative control over the size of the sweet spot and the amount of blur. This is the widest focal length Lensbaby optic currently available, and the first to feature an internal aperture. Rotating the aperture dial on the front of the lens changes between apertures from f/2.5 through f/22. The Sweet 35 Optic is part of the Lensbaby Optic Swap System.

Finally! A near perfect 'baby

As a huge fan of the Lensbaby line of products, the one improvement I've been dreaming of is a built-in adjustable aperture. To the point that I surf to Lensbaby.com at least once a week, every week, hoping that *poof* - my dream might magically become a real product. And OMG last week that's exactly what happened! I went to Lensbaby.com, saw the page for the new Sweet 35, and rushed to Amazon.com in hopes of finding and ordering a pair (I'm a travel photog and like to carry backup of my favorite gear when I'm on the road, thus the second lens). Looks like I was one of the lucky few to get the new lens on Amazon before it sold out (albeit only temporarily, I'm sure).I've now been playing with the Sweet 35 all day - in my Lensbaby Composer - and I love it. Love love love it.Easy to use: Works just like any other optic in the Composer in terms of swapping the optic in/out of the Composer - I also have the Single Glass, the Double Glass, and the Soft Focus optics. The only difference is in the apertures: Switching between apertures is now a snap. No more time-consuming, cumbersome dropping in and fishing out of apertures manually with magnets. Just a twist of the dial and bingo. You're at the desired aperture. Couldn't be easier to use.Quality construction: Build looks and feels solid.Great images: The results are just as dreamy as ever in terms of creamy bokeh and tack-sharp sweet spot action. Add to that the wider focal length and close focus ability and I can easily see never using the Single Glass, Double Glass, or Soft Focus optics again. It's going to be hard not to use this optic 100% of the time, moving forward.Note: I shoot with a Nikon D90. Can't speak on the experience of the Lensbaby Composer or this (or any other) optic with a Canon or other model of Nikon or other camera manufacturer.Kudos, Lensbaby. You've done it again. Keep up the great work! Can't wait to see what you cook up next.

Be aware of accessory incompatibility

The Sweet 35 optic is quite nice and deserves all of the praise it gets, but be aware of the following issues:- While it's wonderful that you don't have to switch aperture disks with this one, it also means that you can't use the "creative" aperture disks with it.- The threads on the front of the lens don't fit the macro/teleconverter accessories sold by Lensbaby :(If those issues, or at least the 2nd one, were "fixed" somehow then it would be absolutely perfect. If these issues don't matter to you then to you then it might as well be perfect as far as you're concerned.
