Coolpix 24mm Wide Angle Lens

A great lens at a reasonable price. I often use the Wide Angle Lens for panoramic shots and sometimes for indoor use. Great for scenic shots such as mountains or valleys, and also for interiors, real estate, etc.
When used indoors, an external flash or lighting is recommended. The lens partially obscures the built-in flash. And as with any wide angle, there is less light passing through the lens to the "film."

Very sturdy, clean crisp lens. It comes with a nice velour bag, and two lens caps. It covers up 90% of the flash, so ambiant light (or external flash) is needed to take good pictures.
You screw the lens on, set your 990 to "M", and through the menu, you select "Wide Angle", and you're good to go.
No distortion is apparent on the pictures, which are the same excellent quality you're used to from the 990.

If you are going to get just one accessory lens for your coolpix, make it this one. After owning it for 3 Mos. I use it all the time. It does not have a lot of wide effect optical distortion unless you get in very close. In those cases it is a fun effect. The quality of the lens is what you expect from Nikon and I feel the lens was very reasonably priced. I can say it has been a purchase that I would be very happy to repeat, unlike the 3X extender I bought.
