Product Description
The ZEISS ZF.2 with F bayonet for digital SLRs. Thanks to its electronic interface (CPU), these new ZEISS lenses support all-important operations such as the automatic exposure for shutter priority, aperture priority and program modes. The CPU also supports manual exposure settings, including those for camera casings that are not AI-compatible. Since the lens now transmits the EXIF data such as manufacturer, date, metering system and exposure settings, photographers no longer need to set the parameters manually. These quicker and faster handling capabilities of the ZF.2 lenses are especially useful under hectic shooting conditions. ZEISS lenses truly come into their own in situations that demand extreme photographic creativity and maximum image quality. Carl Zeiss' fixed focal length lenses are known for their high light sensitivity and precise manual handling, leaving the photographer in full control. The new ZF.2 series will be especially interesting for photo enthusiasts who value creative, high-quality images combined with the comfort of automatic settings.

Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 Planar T* ZF.2 Manual Focus Telephoto Lens for the Nikon
By Mohamed A. El Morr
This is my first Zeiss lens , i have a D3s with Nikon lenses, 24-70 F2.8, 70-200 F2.8 VRII, 105 F2.8 . i just received this one todays from Adorama , Done some test shots as i always do with a new lens , test was done at F1.4, F2.0, F2.8, F5.6, F8, and F16, Vignetting varies from wide further upwards, but this could be easily done on Ps with lens correction profile , so nothing to worry about, lens is really solid even more solid than the 70-200, all metal including the hood, the only plastic thing is the lens cap and lens coverThis was my first trial with Manual autofocusing, so i was a bit worried about this, infact and in real test shots, this was easier than i thought would be, you just need to follow the Focus green dot on the focusing screen , this would help a lot, though slower than AF for sure , but nothing that to worry about .The only thing that annoyed me was with the Adorama not signing Guarantee certificate that came with the zeiss neither stamped as per instructions , other than that all came in order ...would recommend it , the only thing I'm afraid about i would fall in love with Zeiss optics and would think about other zeiss ...needs lots of cash .... :))

Beautiful Image
By Christian
What can I say? This was my first time to own a 85mm prime, but there's probably not a better place to start. This lens made me fall in love with 85mm. Sounds funny I guess, but a really useful lens and the image quality and nice speed is excellent. It's a lot of glass and looks quite striking, giving you a clear view of the sensor in the camera when wide open. The defocus is excellent and makes a perfect portrait / interview lens. There is a lot of barrel rotation to change focus and the nearest you can get is about a meter, so it may not be ideal for some photographers, but I'm more old school, and as I primarily use this for video work it's really a crucial lens to have. (My experience is mostly using it on a Canon 5Dmk3 (with a Nikon adapter). It's more of a pain for photo trying to get correct exposure as the F stop is manual and doesn't communicate with the Canon, but in terms of image quality it's really excellent.A great lens for old Nikon film cameras of course too... expensive but a worthwhile investment.

Hard to focus. Very disappointed!
By Family4Christ
We went back to Nikon after trying these lenses. We bought these because of the name but as it turned out, these are very hard to focus and so after trying for a few days we decided to return these and bought Nikon instead. We spent almost $70 on postage to return these 2 lenses and that was a big loss. Next time we are going to do more research before doing this again.
