The kenko is a good 2x extender if you don't mind shooting in manual mode. Macro shooting is excellent for since you don't have to get so close you get 400 range which is a pretty good magnification. You don't have to get as close to your subjects in portrait like the example i upload with the dog portrait. It is hard to use when you shoot birds in flight reason being. The bird is farther and it is hard to judge the focus at the infinity range. Focus judgement is a piece of cake in macro since the magnification and the size of the object but not so much with birds. It takes sometimes 300 shots and out of those you get maybe 3 or 4 that is perfect in focus. I have to try stopped down to 8 maybe 16 to see if that increases my chance. As far as the optics performance there is some serious isuess in some cases. For instance with my 50 1.4 lens there is some double effect in the bokeh. I am guessing that this thing promotes chromatic aberration. I guess this is the prism affect when light is bent due to the curvature of light introduced by extra not so high quality glass. It has nice likable pix with the 70-200 canon lens see uploads.
