Going Wide on the cheap

Picked up the Polaroid wide angle lens as an inexpensive way to shoot at a wider angle. It has proven to be one of my better buys. Easy to access from the small pouch it came with, and screws into the hosting lens (52mm) easily with a minimum of effort. Have outfitted it with a UV (62mm) filter to protect the lens and use it with a CPL lens from time to time. Picked up a Polaroid filter kit for it after becoming impressed by the little lenses abilities. The wide textured section mid-lens provides a good grip surface when removing it or separating the macro attachment.Vignetting is present at range and can be seen in the viewfinder which aids composition. In post production though I've never noted much distortion.The things I like about this lens are; It works. Providing good panorama without strong distortion; In hand you feel a decent weight, not heavy but substantial. Definitely not flimsy. The feel belays its quality; It's an easy carry when going out lite. The little soft sided cloth pouch with its draw string closure fits well in a cargo pocket and is easily retrieved.Only thing I dislike about it, is the fit of the front lens cap. It's loose slip over cap that does not stay on. One of those things you go, 'I need the replace that', each time I take it out.

Great for price

It does the job well when you consider how affordable the attachment is compared to a whole separate lens. Would gladly purchase this again. I've got a lot of great photos while using it.

Wide-angle yes, but that's about all.

The Polaroid wide-angle lens does increase the size of the picture that you are able to take. This works well for outside shots where you are trying to fit more into your picture frame. Unfortunately it is limited for it's indoor use. Unless you have perfect lighting the lens doesn't work well. You are unable to use the flash on your camera with the lens. This is because the lens sticks out an additional 2 inches from the standard lens and causes a black spot in your pictures. For the price it works well in outdoor settings with sufficient lighting. If you are wanting something to take pictures indoor like a realtor then you probably want to keep looking.
