Very pleased - NO OS ON SONY MOUNT

I have used this on a Minolta 5D and also a Sony a580. I compared this to the Tamron 17-50/2.8 and of course, the Zeiss 16-80. The Sigma beat out the Zeiss purely from a cost aspect (this lens is half the cost of the Zeiss) and the Tamron for that extra bit of length. That 20mm doesn't sound like a lot, but I find about half of my pictures in that range. It took a bit of time to adjust to the fact that Sigma lenses you have to turn them the opposite way of Sony/Minolta/Tamron to zoom and focus. This is definitely a step up from both the 18-55 and 18-70 kit lenses I've owned and has replaced other lenses to become my primary lens in my bag. Great image quality, minimal flaring, minimal chromatic aberration, nice bokeh, and sharp. Some noticeable distortion @17mm, but easily fixed in Lightroom/Photoshop. Focusing is quick, accurate and fast. And quiet. Comes with a lock button but I've yet to use it, the lens isn't really heavy enough or long enough to really experience lens creep. The Sony mounts do not have image/optical stabilization in them although the description says otherwise (the Sigma website states this in a teensy, tiny footprint on the lens' page). The lack of OS doesn't bother me since Sony has image stabilization in camera, but it definitely should not be listed in the product description as having it. There are only two switches on the lens: one is the lens lock and the other is a MF/AF switch.
